Chris Kramer from Capcom asked me to check out this new trailer for their upcoming Street Fighter IV video game. He said the theme is water color and showcases the battle between Chun-Li and, the new Street Fighter character, Crimson Viper.
Message to Chris:
The visuals are stunning. Why not make a movie using this water color technique? Forget the actors and actresses for the movie. I’d be first in line to watch it. Guaranteed!

Some of the forums are already being critical about the game’s graphics as being two-dimensional. I beg to differ. From the gameplay I’ve seen, Street Fighter IV is far from being a 2D game. On the contrary, the animation and graphic style makes it less intimidating and more inviting to a majority of gamers like myself. I’d be more inclined to pick this game up because of it’s beauty and simplicity. I’m just hoping that the gameplay is up to par to the Street Fighter versions I’ve played in the past.

I’m looking forward to see this project come to fruition. Heavenly Sword for the Playstation 3 is one of my favorite games. I’m slightly disappointed that this short film won’t be about Nariko, the heroine of Heavenly Sword but will revolve around Kai, Nariko’s best friend; the Robin of sorts of the game.
The short film will be produced by Ion Studios in the UK. Here’s the co-director’s synopsis:
“the film centers around Kai, the new Guardian of the Heavenly Sword. After the death of her father and the disbanding of their Clan, the Legend of the Sword gained the interest of malevolent Warlords in search for the key to dominating the world. Knowing it may cost her life, Kai swears to protect the sword and does what she can to prevent it from falling into the wrong hands.
More details and hints reguarding the story will be revealed as the Production heats up.”

I’m hoping that this movie will not be the embarrassing 1994 adaptation of Capcom’s fighting video game. Ouch. Ouch. And ouch again! I was the first in line in 1994. I was as excited as the 7 year olds behind me back then. Claude Van Damme and Raul Julia (Bison) did not do the game justice. It was pathetic. Capcom got a lot of press though that year. I hope that Capcom is not just after publicity this time for their Street Fighter IV title this year.
This time though the hook to the movie is the focus on Chun Li, my favorite Street Fighter character. Chun Li will be played by Kristin Kreuk. Oh snap. I’ll be the first in line again for this movie. Dang it! Kristin plays Lana Lang in TV series, Smallville on the WB. The man-of-steel was relegated to the background next to the star power of Kristin in the series. I’m praying and hoping that the movie somewhat mirrors what the producers did in Mortal Kombat: The movie. The first one was great.
